    Extra-curricular Provision and Sport

    Sports Day 2016-17
Students participating in ECA Primary service

The Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) programme is compulsory for all students irrespective of year group or full/part-time status. Students are required to choose an activity from a range of options under the generic headings of communication, creativity and community. During the academic year students will normally participate in three or four ECAs covering all three headings although, dependent upon the nature of the activity, this is a flexible arrangement. ECAs are run by the teachers and form part of the holistic nature of the curriculum.

The activities run for four periods of eight weeks. Students may organise their own activity provided they can liaise with a teacher to ensure adequate supervision. As an illustration of the range of activities on offer, below is the ECA programme for Term 1 / Block #1 2017-18

    • Choir
    • Theatre production skills
    • Jewelry making / silversmithing
    • Chess
    • NGO / charitable work
    • Elementary spoken Khmer
    • International cookery
    • Debating
    • Guitar ensemble
    • Art in the Open
Excerpt from the High School newsletter (January 2017)

    The High School Yearbook

The High School Yearbook documents all subjects and events throughout the academic year. The yearbook, in excess of 100 pages, is produced and edited entirely by the students as an extra-curricular activity.

    Sport

All students participate in one hour of sport in addition to the timetabled Physical Education period. The students are divided into two groups (Years 7 -9 / Years 10-13) and, under the guidance of a team of at least three teachers, they take part in a range of activities including football, basketball, volleyball and badminton. Each week the students enjoy the facilities available at Chun Lung Sports Club, approximately 10 minutes’ journey by school minibus. At certain periods of the year, as part of the Physical Education programme, all students will use the large swimming pool at our Primary School campus. The School has an annual Sports Day and inter-House and inter-schools sports competitions take place on a regular basis.
